DeadCellZones.com - Cell Phone Coverage Map Reviews (2000)

The first database we launched was Deadcellzones.com in 2000, created to address the frustrating problem of inconsistent cell phone coverage. This was well before the rise of online mapping—Google Maps hadn’t even launched yet. Initially, we used a simple hosted SQL database to collect user-submitted coverage complaints and published them as a searchable list.

Around 2005, after the launch of Google Maps, we began visualizing and crowdsourcing this data on an interactive map. Over the past 15 years, more than 150,000 cell phone coverage complaints have been submitted. Today, over 50,000 active complaints remain on the map, and we receive 5,000+ new reports each year. In 2024, we transitioned from an ad-supported model to a $1-per-month subscription using Google Publisher Center. This shift ensures a better user experience, supports continued platform development, and helps us maintain high-quality, up-to-date data.

PhotoEnforced.com - Automated Red Light, Speed & Traffic Cameras (2001)

Following the early success of our first map, we launched a second crowdsourced initiative in 2001 to track red light and speed camera locations around the world. We registered the domain PhotoEnforced.com, now a leading resource for traffic enforcement data, and published a SQL-based database to the web. It quickly became clear that drivers were actively searching for this information, and we built a map to address the widespread lack of transparency.

PhotoEnforced.com now hosts a database of over 30,000 active speed and red light camera locations worldwide and receives thousands of visitors per day looking for camera data. In 2024, we transitioned from an advertising-supported model to a subscription-based platform using Google Publisher Center to support platform sustainability, data quality, and user privacy.

As the traffic enforcement landscape evolved, many U.S. cities began installing license plate readers (ALPR) and traffic cameras, often leading to confusion among drivers. In response, we launched a new category in 2015 to track these additional types of cameras, with help from our growing user base.

Drilling Maps, Power Plant Maps, Refinery Maps - Health Energy Data (2012)

Accessing reliable oil and gas health and safety data has historically been difficult, often depending on the state, county, or city you live in. DrillingMaps.com, RefineryMaps.com, and PowerPlantMaps.com were created in response to stories we heard from concerned parents—families living near drilling sites, refineries, and power plants who were experiencing unexplained illnesses and searching for answers.

These subscription-based maps were built to document and visualize health and safety concerns reported by residents around the world, offering much-needed transparency into the risks associated with oil and gas operations. They serve as open platforms for individuals to share safety concerns related to drilling, refining, and power generation activities that may be affecting their health and well-being.

Solar Energy Maps - Solar Farms, Solar Parking, Solar Roofs (2012)

We’re building a fast-growing map database of thousands of solar roofs, solar parking canopies, and solar farms. Our team crowdsources data by analyzing satellite imagery to pinpoint solar panel installations across the globe.

At SolarEnergyMaps.com, our mission is twofold: to raise awareness of the rapidly expanding renewable energy landscape worldwide and to highlight the potential of solar power in reducing our dependence on oil and gas. To date, we've identified 20,000+ solar installations—ranging from utility-scale farms to rooftop arrays and solar-covered parking lots—using satellite-driven analysis.

BadIntersections.com - Historic Vehicle & Pedestrian Accidents (2015)

BadIntersections.com is a crowdsourced map database dedicated to identifying intersections that are potentially hazardous or frustrating for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Our mission is to raise awareness of dangerous intersections and encourage action from drivers, city planners, and government agencies to improve road safety.

DisasterReliefMaps.com - Emergency Response Maps (2017)

DisasterReliefMaps.com is a subscription-based mapping platform created to provide fast, accurate, and accessible information during natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires, and floods, which continue to devastate communities across the United States.

SickBuildingsMap.com & SmellyRooms.com - Air Quality Issue Buildings (2017)

Is a subscription-based, crowdsourced map that tracks hospitals, schools, offices, hotels, and other buildings where poor air quality and health-related complaints have been reported. The platform focuses on identifying potential cases of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)—a condition where occupants experience acute health or comfort issues linked to time spent inside a particular building.

DangerousSchools.com - School Violence & Dangerous Locations (2017)

As states reconsider school accountability under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), policymakers often overlook one of the most important concerns for parents: Do students and teachers feel safe at school? Key data on school climate—such as student safety, teacher morale, and academic culture—is rarely rated and almost never made accessible to the public.

Syndicated Maps is a mapping services development firm dedicated to building and marketing crowdsourced, location-based mobile maps. Our mobile-friendly, progressive web maps are designed to address a wide array of social, business, and political challenges by providing intuitive and accessible data visualization platforms for both consumers and enterprises.

Since 2001, our maps were freely available and supported through advertising. In 2024, we transitioned to a subscription-based model using Google Publisher Center to ensure long-term sustainability, improve data quality, and provide an enhanced user experience across our platform.

To date, we have developed 25 distinct location-based maps that target key issues across transportation, telecommunications, energy, and travel. These maps are now available to subscribers through our progressive web apps, which require no download and are optimized for mobile and desktop use.
